Practicing Mindfulness and Kindness as a Foreigner in a New Country (Life in Germany-1)

I’ve been living in Düsseldorf, Germany for a year now.
It’s a journey I’m taking with my wife.
We came here to experience a different culture, a new way of life.

As newcomers, even the everyday things can feel intimidating.
How do I order food? How do I talk to people? Am I being polite?

When I notice myself worrying, I breathe.
Inhale. Exhale. Come back.

And once I’m here, in the moment—I realize, there’s nothing to be afraid of.
A smile, a little kindness, those are universal languages.
Be kind, and everything else will fall into place.
Even if it doesn't, that's okay too.

Be here, and I can enjoy the vibe of different culture.
Be now, and I’ll take my next sip of Füchschen Alt beer, feel the sunlight on my face, and smile by the side of the Rhein River.
